About the event
Ayuveda is a 5000 year old, holistic health system that developed across India and Sri-Lanka and is still practiced around the world today. Yoga is a branch of Ayurveda and many yoga teachers will have studied other aspects of Ayurveda as part of their training. However yoga’s popularity as simply an exercise form has meant that some of the specific and personalized health benefits and practices surrounding yoga have been overlooked or diluted over the years.
Ayuvedic medicine as a practice in it’s self, can cure and support the recovery from a multitude of illnesses as well as helping a client gain a much deeper understanding of themselves and equipping them with the tools to find their own balance thus living a more fulfilling and authentic life. By combining these two fields we can achieve incredible results for our clients or for ourselves in our own self-practice.
This workshop will offer a more in depth look at the cross overs between these two disciplines and how Ayurveda can enhance your yoga instruction or self-practice.
In this workshop we look at dosha specific yoga. Not only will we explore the poses that can benefit the three doshas and some to avoid for each but we will discuss surrounding environment, length of class and time of day. Through this workshop you will gain a basic understanding of how to assess your clients on initial meeting in order to create the right class for them from an ayruvedic point of view. You will leave the class with some tools to create dosha specific yoga sessions along with an understanding of how yoga poses can provoke or heal certain imbalances/illnesses.
